How is a military divorce different from a non-military divorce?

Military divorces are different from non-military divorces. Those of us who practice family law in the Tampa Bay area know this well due to the presence of MacDill Air Force Base within our city. There are certain issues contained within military divorces that are different than those issues in non-military divorces. Example, the division of military retirement pay is very different than the division of any other kind of retirement pay that may take place in non-military divorces. There are issues concerning time sharing with minor children both because military individuals frequently have to travel and are sometimes even deployed overseas. There are also issues of delay that are associated with the soldiers and sailors civil relief act. Lastly, off the top of my head, is the issue of income computation which is different for military divorces because how military personnel are compensated and in what amounts, and figuring out what the actual numbers are are different than in civilian jobs.
