Temporary orders are very important in divorce cases. A temporary order is an order which simply lasts from the time it is made until the conclusion of the divorce case when the terms of a final judgment or divorce decree then control.
But what happens during the pendency, or while the case is going, can be very important. Temporary support orders are orders which concern the payment of money or the dividing of assets during the case. Temporary orders may also concern time sharing with minor children. They also have increased significance because sometimes, when a temporary relief order is issued, it has a psychological effect on both parties, where they think that the court will somehow simply continue the temporary relief order, and thus, it can have a real chilling or exciting effect on how a case is settled.
