My spouse is in the military, can I get a divorce?

It is common for spouses in the military to have their marriages dissolved with only one spouse being in the military or both. However, whether or not you can have your marriage dissolved at a particular point in time may be dependent upon the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act. That act can delay a proceeding if one of the spouses involved in a divorce is unable to participate in the divorce action because of the requirements and demands of their military service. That law, and the associated delays associated with that law aside, military people can get divorced just like everybody else.
