After more than 40 continuous years of Florida family law practice, David has shifted his focus from dispute resolution to dispute avoidance. A prenuptial or postnuptial agreement may be the most consequential and important legal document a person will ever sign. These agreements are not generic forms or routine paperwork. They can affect what happens to wealth, income, business interests, real estate, inheritance rights, family assets, and long-term financial expectations if a marriage eventually ends through divorce or death during marriage.

David Anton is a Tampa native and third-generation Tampa attorney. After graduating from Jesuit High School in 1977, David attended the University of Florida where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1981 and a Juris Doctorate (law) degree in 1984. He has been a member of the Florida Bar and Hillsborough County Bar Associations since 1985. David has continuously practiced law in Tampa for over 40 years, primarily practicing marital and family law. He has also been a licensed family law mediator for approximately 30 years.
David recently narrowed his full-scale family law practice to specialize in the negotiation and preparation of Prenuptial Agreements and Postnuptial Agreements. David has prepared at least 150 of these agreements over the last 35 years.
Preparing sound prenuptial and postnuptial agreements for those with wealth, financial complexity, and/or family complexities requires several skill sets. David brings more than just a law degree to this endeavor. He studied business administration in school. During his first approximately 20 years of practice, in addition to family law, David worked in the areas of securities arbitrations, small business law, real estate, probate, and bankruptcy.
He has been a part owner and the president of a local real estate company since 1990, which has developed, repurposed, and managed numerous projects and properties. These experiences allow him to better understand the real needs of professionals, entrepreneurs, wealth recipients, and investors.
